Sunflowers are synonymous with the season of high summer around the world.
Not only are they beautiful and brilliantly-hued, enlivening any patch of earth
they inhabit, their seeds are also a valuable source of food for many species,
including humans!
These particular blooms were high above my head, at the tippy-top of tall plants in a large patch of them thriving alongside an acequia (Irrigation ditch.) one August a few years ago. Enchanted by how they turn each day to follow the sun as it makes its way across the sky, I determined to paint these glorious giants against a backdrop of
cobalt, turquoise, and fluffy, fair weather clouds.
Everyone can use more sunshine in their lives, and this small masterwork simply glows with light from within! Perfectly sized to add beauty to any environment: home or office. Also makes a lovely gift for someone special.
